Biography

Karen began as an actress in theatre at age 12 and television at age 15. Her acting career allowed her an opportunity into the world of production where she began casting and producing films & television in 1993. Karen has over 30 years of experience working in television and film both in back and in front of the camera. She spent ten years as Head of Talent  for an independent production company, where she was responsible for  casting talent in major independent and studio films, managing international projects, and developing projects for the independent market. Throughout her extensive career she has worked with Sir Anthony Hopkins, Dennis Hopper, James Marsden, James Brolin, Jon Voight, and Val Kilmer among numerous others.

Karen never lost her love of being a performing artist.  In 2015 she returned to acting full time.   Initially having great success in national network commercials,  she found herself working with Film Directors such as Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game/ Passengers).  Morten made it clear he wanted a "solid film actress" for an On Camera Principal role in a national network commercial which required extensive dialogue, physical choreography, and nerves of steel to manage his perfectionist traits.  After three extensive auditions, Morten personally selected Karen.   The spot ran for two years and gave Karen notoriety, credibility, and  ample money to justify her efforts in front of the camera.  The commercial also required her voice as the spokesperson, so her many years of working in radio and animation came back into play.

 

Karen recently voiced a principal role as the First Lady for the audio book "RAGE" which has received the Grand Prize win in the Indie Book Awards. This political thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Karen is also a motivational speaker and author. She inspire others through her theme, "Improve your life by living your dream."  Karen has been the key note speaker for the Mayors Prayer Breakfast, The Biola Media Conference, and Elon University's career lecturer series  along with numerous other venues .   She has faced  adversity as a cancer survivor, single mother, and veteran of the entertainment industry,but now uses these experiences to help encourage others.

 

Although Karen takes pleasure in her professional accomplishments, her greatest moments of joy is with her family and friends.
